This Licence Specialist role is an integral part of the Licence team responsible for various processes supporting the management, reporting, administration, issuing and auditing of Zespri Proprietary Licences in New Zealand. The success of the licensed varieties relies on strict Plant Variety Right (PVR) management that is monitored and enforced by the Licence team and their ability to understand and contribute to the strategic priority of Year-Round Global Supply Excellence.


Key responsibilities include:


Administer and manage the full lifecycle of Zespri proprietary licences, including issuing, transfers and audits.
Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, legal advisors, post-harvest operators, and other key stakeholders.
Rapidly resolve grower issues at first contact through proactive and detailed knowledge of Zespri’s business processes.
Manage GPS audits, resolve licence non-compliance and recommend corrective actions. Liaise with the Finance team on processes related to licences, including invoicing, payments, debt collection and reconciliations.
Assist with pre-validation and allocation processes for annual license releases, working closely with internal teams and legal.

This is a 12 month-fixed term role, commencing in August 2026.

We are looking for an individual with legal administration or contract management experience and excellent documentation skills. You will also have:


Strong investigation, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Dispute resolution experience and the ability to navigate difficult conversations with external stakeholders.
Solid written and verbal skills.
Diverse and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly resolve issues.
Competency to understand and review legal/contracts/property documentation.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
The ability to conduct research, investigating facts and developing/drafting recommendations for potential legal disputes.
Highly developed computer skills (Word, Advanced Excel, SAP, CRM packages, SharePoint and other admin support software tools).
