About the Opportunity
A well-established international logistics and customs brokerage firm is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist with strong experience in customs regulations and electronic refund processes. This role will focus primarily on recovering duties and tariffs through electronic refund mechanisms, including drawback and post-entry adjustments.
This is a confidential search for a growing operation expanding its trade compliance and duty recovery services.
Position Summary
The selected candidate will be responsible for identifying, filing, and managing customs refund opportunities, including tariff recovery and electronic drawback claims. The role requires a strong understanding of CBP regulations, refund programs, and electronic filing systems.
A valid U.S. Customs Broker License is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and process electronic customs refund claims (duty drawback, post-summary corrections, protests, etc.)
• Identify tariff recovery opportunities and evaluate eligibility
• Prepare and submit electronic filings through ACE or other CBP systems
• Reconcile import data and validate eligibility for refunds
• Research and interpret CBP rulings and trade regulations
• Communicate with clients regarding refund status and documentation requirements
• Coordinate with internal brokerage teams to obtain necessary import documentation
• Monitor claims through completion and ensure timely follow-up
Qualifications
• U.S. Customs Broker License preferred
• Experience with electronic refund filings and drawback claims required
• Strong knowledge of CBP regulations and tariff classification
• Familiarity with ACE system and electronic submission processes
• Understanding of post-entry amendments, PSCs, and protests
• Strong analytical and data reconciliation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple claims and deadlines simultaneously
