$+4,415pa + 12% super

Our opportunity
As the Local Business Support Officer you will provide planning and project support to deliver upon the economic development objectives for the region as outlined in the Regional Economic Development strategy (REDS), with a particular focus on supporting local small businesses to operate competitively.
You'll work closely with the wider Economic Development - Industry Advancement team to support to individual businesses to help them identify and overcome challenges, develop skills and access the key information required to achieve their goals, through both the one-to-one servicing of individual businesses and the design and delivery of one-to-many programs to support multiple businesses at any one time.
Through strategic planning and undertaking project activities you will provide high quality support for the delivery of the Small Business Friendly Council programs of work, and coordinate annual reporting on this initiative. You’ll also:
Identify and accelerate existing programs by other stakeholders, as well as potential funding sources, applicable to Moreton Bay local businesses with the objective of supporting small businesses competitiveness outcomes.
Contribute to the facilitation of positive regional business outcomes by fostering and maintaining deep, respectful, collaborative relationships with all team members and stakeholders.
Provide an active presence, appropriately representing Council, in the Moreton Bay business community including attendance at out of business hours meetings and functions as required.
Report up-to-date business-community intelligence and outcomes from programs developed to assist with better Council decision-making, resource allocation and prioritisation.

About you
We are seeking someone passionate about assisting both prospective and existing local businesses to identify challenges, develop skills and access the key information required to achieve their business goals.
You will be ready and able to help to increase capacity, knowledge and connectedness throughout the Moreton Bay economy to stimulate growth, business confidence and ultimately jobs.
You will be a self-starter with both the knowledge and understanding of running a business, as well as understand government, and have the ability to work alongside businesses in a supportive and proactive way.
Key skills and attributes we are seeking include:
Highly developed written, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate persuasively, engage in active listening, consult with a wide range of people at all levels, foster collaboration and cooperation, and facilitate small work groups.
Excellent project management and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to develop plans, coordinate actions, gain cooperation and deliver outcomes.
Business acumen including the ability to prepare professional business communication such as reports, presentations, and project, planning and policy documents.
Be available and willing to work outside normal hours on occasion.
