We are seeking an experienced Senior Fashion Designer to lead the development of our new men's luxury fashion line.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in menswear design, with a proven track record of creating cohesive and commercially viable collections.
This is a highly collaborative role that requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the brand's unique aesthetic, leading the creative process, and collaborating with production teams to ensure the feasibility of designs.
Responsibilities:
Brand Development & Vision:
Develop the brand's unique aesthetic and ensure that it resonates with the target audience while staying ahead of market trends.
Collaborate with the founder to define the brand's identity, mission, and vision in the context of men's fashion.
Define the core values and personality of the brand through creative concepts, mood boards, and design principles.
Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the brand, ensuring alignment between design and business goals.
Design Creation & Collection Development:
Lead the creative process to develop men's fashion collections that are stylish, functional, and commercially viable.
Design a diverse range of menswear, including but not limited to tailoring, casualwear, sportswear, and accessories, ensuring versatility and appeal to a wide audience.
Develop comprehensive seasonal collections, from initial sketches and mood boards to final designs, ensuring cohesion across all pieces.
Select fabrics, materials, colors, and patterns that align with the brand's vision and market trends.
Create detailed technical specifications and design briefs for patterns, samples, and production.
Collaborative Work & Cross-Functional Engagement:
Work closely with the founder to translate brand concepts into actionable design strategies and collections.
Coordinate with production teams to ensure the feasibility of designs and to make adjustments as necessary for manufacturability, quality control, and budget considerations.
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to ensure designs resonate with consumers and are positioned effectively in the marketplace.
Mentor and guide junior designers, providing leadership in developing their skills and ensuring they understand the brand's vision.
Product Development & Oversight:
Oversee the entire product development process, ensuring designs are accurately executed in samples and that they meet high-quality standards.
Work with pattern makers, fabric suppliers, and sample makers to refine and perfect the designs.
Conduct fitting sessions, overseeing adjustments and ensuring the final garments align with the design vision, fit, and comfort requirements.
Evaluate samples and prototypes to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship and that they align with the brand's quality standards.
Trend Research & Market Analysis:
Stay ahead of emerging fashion trends in men's fashion, including streetwear, formalwear, casualwear, and athleisure, ensuring the brand's collections remain relevant and forward-thinking.
Research global fashion markets and consumer preferences, providing insights to inform collection development.
Continuously assess competitor brands and market trends to maintain a competitive edge.
Brand Strategy & Launch Support:
Contribute to the brand's go-to-market strategy, ensuring that designs align with sales and marketing objectives.
Support the development of brand positioning and visual communication through fashion shows, photoshoots, and other marketing efforts.
Assist in the creation of brand materials, including lookbooks, promotional content, and website visuals, to build a strong online and offline presence.
Client & Stakeholder Communication:
Present your designs and concepts to the founder, key stakeholders, and potential clients, providing clear and compelling insights into the design vision.
Collect feedback and make adjustments as necessary to ensure designs meet business needs and client expectations.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 7 years of experience in menswear design, with a proven track record of developing collections and working in a leadership capacity.
Skills:
Expertise in menswear design, including tailoring, casualwear, sportswear, and accessories.
Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and technical drawing skills.
Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric sourcing, and production processes.
Ability to conceptualize and create cohesive collections that reflect a brand's identity and market demands.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of designers.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of global fashion trends, the men's fashion market, and consumer behavior.
