Description:
Maintenance Mechanic 1 is responsible for maintaining the process equipment required to manufacture GMP pharmaceutical products, supporting utilities equipment, the campus including facilities, plumbing, general electricity, furniture, AC’s and the surrounding parking lot area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform and monitor routine scheduled Preventative Maintenance tasks for process equipment, supporting utilities, and facilities.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs for process equipment, supporting utilities, and facilities.
• Initiate, edit and complete Work Orders for GMP equipment, utilities and facilities in the CMMS.
• Initiate, edit and complete Work Requests for Non-GMP areas and tasks.
• Monitor the equipment while running to observe any unusual sound, vibration, leaks…etc. and correct them or report them to be repaired.
• Participate in predictive maintenance activities like IR scan for electric panels.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects as assigned.
• Perform site walks for the GMP areas, and non-GMP areas to observe any equipment, facilities or building defects and fix them, or open the required WR to schedule them for future repair.
• Support validation activities as assigned.
• Participate in equipment related deviations investigations as needed.
• Help in maintaining inventory and organization for spare parts, supplies and tools.
• Communicate with Facilities and Engineering Supervisor on a regular basis regarding department status and activities.
• Communicate with stakeholders regarding their needs and any pending tasks related to their areas.
• Always maintain work area clean and organized and in an audit ready condition.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Reports To: Supervisor, Maintenance Engineering

Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or GED; 2-4 year’s experience in facility repairs, mechanical, maintenance, and electrical experience preferred in a GMP manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Completes tasks on time or notify appropriate person with an alternate plan.
• High energy, self-motivated individual who is flexible in assignment, able to multi-task between multiple active projects.
• Ability to read and comprehend SOP’s instructions, short correspondence, memos, and safety precautions.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work with others.
• Ability to follow instructions and schedules.
• Assure compliance with cGMP’s and OSHA.
• Ability to work under pressure and perform tasks on schedule with minimal supervision.
• Aptitude to troubleshoot and repair building related issues, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, water systems and plumbing equipment.
• Competency to properly gown (PPE) for and function within a GMP environment.
• Basic Computer skills in Word, Excel, is required.
• Knowledge of CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) preferred.
