About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Corporate Finance Team as a Management Accountant. In this role, you’ll be working on a variety of council-wide corporate finance functions and will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of business across the breadth of local government finance.
We provide information and advice to a range of internal and external stakeholders around the council’s overall budget, budget monitoring and statutory accounting processes, including senior officers, councillors, service departments and central Government departments.
You will work closely with our finance business partnering team to co-ordinate the management and reporting of financial information across diverse areas such as capital financing, grant income and taxation matters. You will maintain excellent financial controls and play a key role in maintaining our key financial systems.
By gaining an insight into the big picture of local government finance, you will be well placed to develop further in the future by applying your knowledge and skills to the financial management of specific services, and have the confidence to develop your influence on and engagement with our key stakeholders.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
You will work in a supportive team alongside two other Management Accountant, working to three Strategic Finance Managers (one of whom will be your line manager). This team manages the co-ordination and reporting of the council’s budget, budget monitoring and statutory accounting, providing control and assurance over the council’s financial position for our internal and external stakeholders.
Your role will report to the Strategic Finance Manager (Budget Strategy), whose role provides co-ordination of the council’s revenue budget and capital programme.
