Job Description
Manage the monthly closing and year-end accrual processes to ensure proper period reporting and ensure the appropriate accounting for all grant, project costing, and capital asset transactions.
Evaluate processes and systems to identify and mitigate risk, inefficiency and improvement opportunities; identify viable solutions and implement new systems, processes, and procedures as required.
Direct the work of assigned staff, evaluate performance and establish development plans, for each employee to foster growth while ensuring sufficient backups for all critical processes.
Provide financial system and accounting guidance on emerging accounting issues and stay up to date with changing requirements.
Provide regulatory and legal guidance in conjunction with reporting for Passenger Facility Charges (PFC's) and Single Audits.
Act as module lead for PeopleSoft Project Costing and Asset Management modules having full understanding of system module functionality, set-up, configuration and reporting. You will also resolve system issues, test during system upgrades and enhancements and manage delivery of training to end users.
Oversight analysis and resolution of complex accounting irregularities that cross multiple systems and departments.
Requirements
Experience: 5 years in accounting operations and systems including project costing, assets management, grant administration, and/or related reporting, to include 2 years of supervisory, leading, or mentoring experience, including leading a project or program related to accounting operations, systems, and/or financial reporting.
Certifications: Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, and/or business administration.

Expertise: Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards, and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) for federal awards to non-federal entities.

Analytical Skills: Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing complex data to inform strategy and process improvement.
Adaptability: Comfortable with learning new technologies and applying them to improve day-to-day operations.
Leadership: Ability to build and lead a high performing team and cultivate and maintain productive and constructive relationships with both internal and external customers at all levels.
Work Arrangements
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times available.
Work Environment: Hybrid/in-office setting at Management's discretion.
Washington State Residency Requirement: Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
