Marketing Intern

Monko is seeking a Marketing Intern for the Summer 2026 season (April/May – August/September) to support our marketing efforts, events, and brand outreach as we expand into the medical ******** space. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in event coordination, content creation, community engagement, and grassroots marketing. The intern will work closely with the Marketing Assistant and Director of Marketing to help execute Monko’s marketing strategies, increase local brand awareness, and build relationships with the DMV community.This internship is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain real-world marketing experience in a dynamic, fast-paced industry.Key Responsibilities:Local Business & Community Engagement

Assist in distributing Monko materials to local businesses, condos, hotels, and gyms to increase brand visibility.
Support outreach efforts for partnerships, referral programs, and event collaborations.
Help manage and promote Monko’s Business Employee Discount Program in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood.
Research and compile a list of local businesses and influencers for future marketing activations.
Event Support & Coordination

Assist in planning and executing Monko’s in-store and external events, including:
Silver Fox Socials (senior community engagement)
Brand pop-ups & activations
Customer Appreciation Days & Industry Nights
Support event logistics, setup, and breakdown to ensure smooth execution.
Assist with coordinating vendors, influencers, and community partners for events.
Capture behind-the-scenes content at events for social media.
Digital & Influencer Marketing

Help with influencer outreach and user-generated content (UGC) campaigns to promote Monko.
Research and compile a list of DMV-based micro-influencers (5,000–10,000 followers).
Assist in content creation (photos/videos) for social media and marketing campaigns.
Help monitor social media trends and engagement strategies to boost brand awareness.
Marketing Operations & Content Support

Assist in maintaining newsletter contacts in HubSpot, ensuring customer communication is up-to-date.
Support in migrating contacts from Rank Really High (RRH) to HubSpot for marketing campaigns.
Help with print material orders, pickups, and inventory management for marketing activations.
Provide general support for marketing initiatives as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a marketing, communications, business, or related program.
Passion for brand marketing, events, and the ******** industry.
Strong communication skills and ability to network with local businesses and influencers.
Experience or interest in event planning, grassroots marketing, and social media marketing.
Creative thinker with the ability to brainstorm and contribute new ideas.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask.
Self-motivated and willing to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable with occasional in-store and field marketing activations.
Internship Details:

Timeframe: April/May – August/September
Commitment: Part-time (15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule)
Location: Monko (Mount Vernon Triangle, DC) with occasional remote work
Compensation: Paid internship or school credit eligible (depending on requirements)
