We’re now looking for a entrepreneurial, mission-driven mechatronics engineer to bring the product from concept to reality.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design, assembly, and testing process for our rural battery share system and charging station prototype. You will also be responsible for working with local fabricators to manufacture the initial prototypes. In addition, you will help install the equipment onsite in our pilot locations and collect ongoing product feedback and feature requests.
This role will be incredibly fast-paced and will require a high degree of scrappiness, creativity, and adaptability. As one of the first technical hires, you will have significant autonomy and be involved in strategic decision-making, reporting directly to the CEO . This is a hands-on role where you will need to be both a strategic thinker and a doer, driving the product through its entire lifecycle in a resource-constrained startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Source and assemble power electronics components: Identify product requirements for inverter, LFP battery, charging infrastructure, & current management systems. Work with local and overseas manufacturers to procure and QA test all components
• Software and embedded systems engineering: Work with third party manufacturers to program control algorithms for power electronics, firmware for BMS, and communication systems
• Mechanical design and build: Oversee design engineering (CAD) of battery pack architecture, cooling system, and enclosure design.
• Supervise fabrication: Work with local manufacturers for fabrication and run independent testing
• Field implementation and maintenance: Occasionally go on field-site to help implement technology on pilot sites; collect user feedback and feature requests and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
Qualifications:
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in mechanical & power electronics roles, with a strong preference for candidates with startup experience and end-to-end development of a hardware product.
• Mechanical and battery/power electronics knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of power electronics, charging infrastructure, and mechanical design
• Technical skills: Embedded systems, electronics, and PCB design
• Mechanical: CAD esign software proficiency preferred
• Fluid/heat/stress design simulation
• Power electronics scoping and election
• BMS and LFP battery selection
• Testing and QA process
• Strong communication skills: You will be working with multiple stakeholders, including management, foreign and local fabricators, and other designers and engineers
• Access to local workshop, lab, or prototyping facility is strongly preferred.
