Overview

Imagine playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education—this is exactly what the Medical Education Officer (MEO) does. As an MEO, you’ll be at the heart of transforming postgraduate education services for RMCLHN, ensuring Interns and Trainee Medical Officers receive top-tier training and learning opportunities. Your work involves planning, consulting, and developing education programs, tackling complex training and workforce issues, and leading major projects across the Local Health Network. By fostering strong relationships with both government and non-government agencies and aligning with the strategic goals of the Riverland Academy of Clinical Excellence (RACE), you’ll address practice-policy gaps, enhance patient outcomes, and elevate the quality and effectiveness of medical education.

About You

Experience in Workforce planning, public relations and health service management or delivery including educational curriculum development
Skills in the use of information technology and simulated learning environments
Understanding of health sector services and activities, communications principles, emotional intelligence and adult learning principles
Experience in under and post graduate medical education and/or training and conducting nursing/midwifery/education research.
Knowledge of contemporary issues in postgraduate medical education in Australia and of the South Australian Public Health System
Essential Criteria

Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.

Understanding of medical workforce issues including rostering, relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
Experience undertaking core analytical change management activities including change impact

assessment, stakeholder analysis, communications analysis, training needs analysis and contributing to the development and successful implementation of change management plans and actions.

To be eligible for the RN3A position:

Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
