Job Description
The Los Angeles office of Squire Patton Boggs is seeking an experienced mid-level Associate with general employment law experience to join our sophisticated and growing California Labor & Employment practice. This position offers opportunities for career growth and development within a leading international law firm.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide legal counsel to management and employers on California labor law matters
• Represent clients in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs for employment litigation cases
• Advise clients on compliance with California wage and hour laws, workplace policies, and employee relations
• Develop and implement strategies for resolving employment disputes efficiently and effectively
• Manage and mentor junior attorneys and support staff as needed
• Stay informed about legislative and regulatory changes impacting employment law in California and advise clients according
Qualifications
• 4-5 years of relevant experience at a top-tier law firm
• Admission to the California Bar is expected
• Possess a JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record
• Demonstrated expertise in general California employment law
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Must be a self-starter, have the ability to prioritize workload, display good judgment, and work well under pressure
• Proven ability to work with teams and assist in managing client relationships
• Proven ability to quickly and accurately analyze, interpret, and summarize complex policy and legal issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
• Ability to work without constant supervision, demonstrating initiative in seeking work and managing workload
• Experience Interest in mentoring junior associates
• Proactive approach to business development and innovation
