Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Education, Culture and Language, the MMEIP Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and implementation of the Regional MMEIP Taskforce Action Plan within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB), supporting Indigenous families who have been impacted by MMEIP.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide administrative supports for the MMEIP Taskforce and subcommittees.

Plan and deliver MMEIP public events.

Lead the Implementation of the MMEIP Taskforce action plan by coordinating initiatives, tracking progress on strategic goals and ensuring alignment with identified MMEIP priorities

Collaborate with the MMEIP taskforce and communities to develop and implement a MMEIP Emergency Response Plan (ERP).

Provide advisory supports to families, First Nations and Metis community organizations in the RMWB.

Support and advocate for families of missing person by facilitating the reporting process, liaising with the RCMP and First Nation led searches, promote access to justice and closure.

Champion the provision of ongoing wraparound services for families affected through connection with traditional and local grief and loss supports e.g. Family Information Liaison Unit, other ATC available supports.

Collaborate with MMEIP Taskforce, government agencies, and local service providers in development and delivery of the Safer Spaces accreditation program,

Maintain the locally developed MMEIP database; and

Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with various legislations.

Provide quarterly reports on action plan deliverables, local statistics related to MMEIP and provincial or federal Calls to Justice.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.

Qualifications and Skills:

Completion of post-secondary education in the Human Services/ Health Sciences/ Psychology or related field is an asset.

A minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role.

Lived experience is considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Knowledge Cree and/or Dene languages are assets.

Psychological/ Mental Health first aid would be considered an asset.

Knowledge of local Indigenous communities, lands, culture, ceremonies and traditions.

Strong communication, time management and organizational skills.

Problem-solving, conflict resolution, de-escalation and active listening abilities.

Demonstrates self-care practices and awareness.

Requirements:

Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

Clear Child Intervention Record Check.

Class 5 License with a clear Drivers abstract.

Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Schedule:

Day shift

Monday to Friday

Weekends as needed
