Mortgage Underwriter / Administrative Assistant

I am one of the top brokers in the greater Hamilton area and am looking for a candidate who has experience in the banking or mortgage industry. Primary focus will be dealing with existing client base. The individual must be able to prioritize applications and workflow to ensure consistency in service level expectations while managing high volumes and a continued focus on service excellence

Description of Responsibilities:

Communicate with referral partners, mortgage broker and clients on status and recommendation of the application throughout the process
Client pipeline management - reviews pipeline regularly to monitor the progress of mortgages to next milestone, also assists in; submitting applications, ordering appraisals, document fulfillment, client signing and testimonial requests
Manage time frame for all parties in the transaction to facilitate mortgage closing and financial commitment requirements
Ensure mortgage applications meet compliance requirements by consistently following file checklists and internal process guidelines
Consistent and accurate mortgage underwriting as per different lender policies and guidelines
Request and follow up consistently for required documentation as needed from client
Recommends solutions to moderately complex problems
Implements marketing campaigns and initiatives; social media, networking presentations for referral sources

Knowledge of the broader real estate industry and Canadian mortgage market
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Experience:

Must hold a valid mortgage agent/broker license - This can be obtained during training

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain positive relationships with customers to build continued loyalty to the brokers
Maintain positive relationships with Lenders and external business partners such as appraisers, insurance companies, mortgage insurers and lawyers
Submit completed applications and supporting documentation to the lenders
Prepare mortgage options and communication to clients for approval by the broker (highly focused on refinances, switches and renewals)
Obtain and compile information pertaining to the application
Research underwriting information for the mortgage brokers to review
Assist with documentation collection, appraisals etc.
Interact with lenders where applicable to negotiate mortgage approval
Ensures due diligence has been completed prior to sending to a lender for approval
Operate and manage all client communication through CRM systems
Educational /Technical Experience:

3+ years of experience performing all mortgage underwriting procedures in accordance with established laws and regulations
3 + years of experience in the Canadian mortgage industry and mortgage brokers
Possess solid MS Office/Computer skills
Mortgage Agent/Broker license
Working knowledge of CRM systems
Personal Requirements: Outstanding relationship management skills

Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to deal with customers via web, email, and telephone
Provide timely and accurate response to all broker queries
Be committed to providing outstanding customer service
Ability to work in an open environment which is fast paced
Self-Motivated / proactive mindset
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Excellent organizational skills and analytical skills
High attention to detail
Proven ability to meet deadlines
Flexible and adaptable, able to multi-task under pressure

Pay: $55,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
