Job Description
MAJOR AREAS OF PERFORMANCE
Reviews development submissions such as design briefs, servicing plans, and construction drawings for general compliance with requirements.
Determines appropriate water meter sizes based on service demand calculations, usage requirements and municipal design standards.
Assists in front-ending strategies for water and wastewater infrastructure to support cost recovery, infrastructure planning and coordinated development efforts.
Interact with engineering companies on water and wastewater projects.
Maintains water distribution models and wastewater sewer capacity models.
Coordinate water backflow prevention program.
Reviews pollution prevention plan and sample results for compliance with the wastewater by-law and correspond with utility customers.
Produces annual drinking water report as required by legislation.
Produces annual water and wastewater infrastructure review for Council including adequacy of service capacity and condition.
Liaises with South Interlake Planning District and collaborate with utility/public works staff to provide support and coordination.
Participate in Rosser’s asset management program.
Monitors construction of municipal infrastructure, when required, for compliance with Rosser standards.
Assist in administering municipal service sharing agreements.
Maintains accurate records and knowledge base of water/wastewater infrastructure.
Recommends changes to relevant bylaws.
Perform other duties consistent with the position, as required.
REQUIREMENTS
· Graduation from a post-secondary engineering technologist program (Municipal Engineering Technology preferred).
· Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) certification with Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) - Years of equivalent experience or eligibility for membership in CTTAM, C.E.T. or Certified Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) will be considered

Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation through Engineers Geoscientist Manitoba.
· Experience related to civil engineering and/or municipal water/wastewater infrastructure.
· Proficiency in use of spreadsheets, word processing and GIS/CAD software.
· Demonstrated ability to use engineering models for water distribution and wastewater sewers.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Knowledge and understanding of the occupational hazards, safety precautions, regulations and procedures that are applicable to the area of work.
· Class 5 driver’s license.
· Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings when required in a 37.5 hour work week.
· Must be able to work overtime as required.
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
