Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Neighbourhood Action Team Supervisor, the Neighbourhood Action Team Member communicates, plans, and executes work based on internal and external stakeholder, and citizen concerns related to Public Works services within specified neighbourhoods. These services include minor street, curb and sidewalk repairs, Right-of-Way Maintenance, sign repair and maintenance, general winter services, and other duties as assigned.

As the Neighbourhood Action Team Member you will:

Community consultation with stakeholders to identify and collect information related to their concerns within a specified neighbourhood.
Conduct neighbourhood assessment through inspection and plan appropriate maintenance and repairs required.
Perform required seasonal (summer and winter) maintenance and repairs in accordance with safety and operational standards.
Your education and qualifications include:

Grade 12 education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience liaising and working collaboratively with Community Groups, Citizens and Internal/External Stakeholders in order to execute identified work requirements.
Experience with performing various grounds, street, and winter maintenance and repair activities is preferred.
Experience operating and maintaining various types of hand and powertools, and equipment.
Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), Social Media platforms, and other work management systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team and establish positive working relationships.
Ability to interpret, apply and educate various groups on City of Winnipeg by-laws, regulations and policies (Streets By-law, Neighbourhood Liveability By-law, Sewer and Lot Grading By-law, etc.)
Ability to exercise sound judgment, problem solve and make effective decisions.
Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize work to ensure deadlines are met.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Strong political acumen and customer service skills with effective conflict resolution principles.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, citizens, and other key stakeholders.
Knowledge of safety precaution policies and regulations and the ability to adhere to and enforce safety rules and policies.

Conditions of employment:

The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba driver license. Successful candidates will be required to provide a Driver’s Notice of Enforce.
The successful applicant(s) will be required to provide personal protective safety boots at their own expense.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Must be physically capable of performing duties of the position. (e.g. capable of lifting and moving objects at least 50lbs, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time and over uneven terrain, and shoveling, bending, reaching, crouching and twisting).
Willingness and ability to wear and care for a uniform and safety equipment as determined necessary by the Division.
