About the Role
Are you a senior nurse ready to shape the next generation of clinical practice, an experienced surgical or orthopaedic nurse looking to step into leadership? This is your chance to influence care at a system level. We are looking for a self-motivated Nurse Educator to join our Practice Development Group at Tauranga Hospital, where you will lead nursing capability across surgical and orthopaedic specialties through high-quality, evidence-based education and workforce transformation.
This permanent position plays a pivotal role in developing inpatient nursing proficiency through high-quality, evidence-based education. You will support transformation across clinical practice, workforce development, and equity initiatives – contributing directly to the aspirations of Te Pae Tata and Te Toi Ahorangi.
As a designated Senior Nurse, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, lead quality improvement initiatives, and help shape nursing practice that is culturally responsive, resilient, and future-focused.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will bring depth in Surgical and Orthopaedic nursing, alongside a passion for teaching, mentoring, and building strong clinical teams. Experience as a Senior Nurse is valued – but we are also looking for someone with energy, authenticity, and the right mindset for growth.
What you will bring:
Current NZNC registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
Significant clinical experience in surgical and/or orthopaedic nursing
Demonstrated experience in clinical education (inpatient settings preferred)
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse teams
A strong understanding of Māori health equity and commitment to upholding Te Tiriti ō Waitangi in practice
