Operations & Administrative Clerk
11-Month Maternity Cover with Strong Potential for Permanent Position
Elm Cleaning is a well-established, family-owned cleaning company with over 14 years of experience. We're seeking a tech-savvy, self-directed administrator who can hit the ground running and work independently.
While this is initially an 11-month maternity cover, we're planning for growth and the right candidate has excellent prospects for permanent employment.
The Role
You'll coordinate operations for our team of 15 cleaners across multiple sites, managing schedules, client relationships, and day-to-day administration. After 1-2 days of observational field training (shadowing only—no cleaning required), you'll transition to full-time office-based work.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be the primary point of contact for both clients and staff. We need someone who can work autonomously, solve problems independently, and keep operations running smoothly.
What You'll Do
Coordinate daily schedules, rosters, and timesheets for 15 cleaners
Manage client calls and emails—be the professional, responsive voice of the business
Maintain staff records, compliance documentation, and operational systems
Handle supply orders, assist with onboarding, and team coordination
Manage emergencies and client concerns with composure and good judgment
Essential Requirements
✓ Minimum 2 years' administration or operations experience with proven ability to work independently
✓ Strong technical skills—advanced Excel, email management, quick to learn new systems
✓ Excellent communication skills—confident on phone and in writing
✓ Highly organized self-starter who doesn't need constant supervision
✓ Professional with strong references
✓ Comfortable with 1-2 days observational field training with our cleaning team
Highly Regarded
Experience in cleaning, hospitality, facilities management, or service industries
Background coordinating field-based teams
SME (small-medium enterprise) experience where you've "worn many hats"
