Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Business Partnering, you will lead the day-to-day financial analysis, performance tracking, and reporting for the Operations function, as well as providing critical analysis for key decisions made by Operations. You will work closely with operational managers to provide insight, challenge assumptions, and support data-driven decisions that enhance efficiency and profitability.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in logistics, and looking to make an impact at one of the UK’s fastest growing startups. We’re looking for someone who will be hands-on, value-adding and driven to improve the business as we grow.
Responsibilities
Operational Analysis: Own and deliver regular financial and operational analysis including delivery costs, productivity, asset utilisation, and route efficiency.
Performance Reporting: Build and maintain dashboards and KPI reports to track key operational metrics across the business.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the Head of Business Partnering in planning cycles by producing detailed cost forecasts and variance analysis.
Business Partnering: Work closely with operations managers and team leads to understand cost drivers and highlight areas of improvement.
Decision Support: Perform financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making, such as comparing financing options and evaluating alternative network structures.
Business Case Review: Conduct detailed reviews of business cases, ensuring assumptions are robust and aligned with financial and strategic objectives.
Data Management: Consolidate and analyse large datasets from finance and operations systems to identify trends and risks.
Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to financial tracking and reporting processes to support operational agility.
Project Support: Provide financial support to ongoing and ad hoc projects such as new site launches, contract changes, or tech deployments.
Requirements
Strong track record in financial analysis, business partnering, and operational finance roles.
Proficient in Excel; experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
Confident working with large datasets and building complex financial models.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Prior experience focusing on business partnering, in logistics, transportation, or similar operationally-focused industries.
Prior experience in supervising / leading teams (as the team will grow over time as HIVED scales).
Commercially astute, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, scale-up environment.
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 4-6 years PQE.
