Overview

Element has opportunity for an Operations Manager for India

In this role ,you will assume a strategic role in the overall management and development of the metallurgical testing business in India . In this role you will perform a variety of leadership responsibilities within the assigned location to ensure technical excellence, efficiency in delivery, resource allocation, client management while actively interacting with the laboratory managers, finance managers, business development managers and HSE & Quality team members

This position will be based in Ghatkopar west in Mumbai and will report to the General Manager of India

Responsibilities
• Develop and build a highly performing team and build technical strength such that our service offering can be clearly differentiated from our local competitors by ensuring that the personnel are adequately trained to perform their duties while ensuring Health and safety management and Quality compliance for laboratory operations
• Under the direction of the General Manager, will be responsible for directing, coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring the daily activities of the lab operations department managers and supervisors (typically 3 or more direct reports with an overall staff that is greater than 15 employees)
• Ensure operational adherence to applicable policies and procedures by all operational staff
• Oversee operational conformance to ISO/IEC17025 and other accreditation standards, while ensuring that personnel responsibilities are discharged strictly in accordance with the Element standards and requirements of ISO/IEC 17025
• Conduct safety training and act as safety resource to lab team members, lead the facility safety committee and manage emergencies, accident/incident investigations and reporting, promoting employee participation in Safety, Health, and Environmental programs
• Make daily rounds in Laboratory to judge effectiveness of operation, utilisation of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere and be responsible for hiring, performance management, and performance review decisions and execution, and approval of overtime

Skills / Qualifications
• Graduate Engineer with minimum 7–10 years of Operations management experience in TIC industry
• Working knowledge of laboratory safety along with ability to solve practical customer problems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Access, Word, Excel)
• Well organised and disciplined to effectively manage multiple tasks
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills in local language as well as English
• Ability to coordinate with clients and determine their requirements
• Experienced in root cause analysis, problem solving, team management along with attention to details and customer delivery
