Packaging Engineer APAC- Your future position?
About The Role
As regional packaging engineer, you will be in charge of managing all technical aspects of the packaging portfolio across APAC. Y ou will drive the optimization of primary and secondary packaging materials in coordination with the Global Packaging team. You will be in charge of or actively support the standardization of packaging and processes, validation of materials and equipment, cost-saving activities, development of suppliers with IM&S, integration of sustainability focus in the projects, and representation of the region in the global team. Moreover, you will have a significant impact on our business by ensuring all packaging complies with legal requirements in the regions where they are traded.
You will be based in Mumbai or Pune and reporting to the Regional Head of Manufacturing Excellence and Process Technology.

In this exciting role, you will:
Partner Management and Networking
• Be the primary contact for the region/division on packaging activities and act as the lead expert
• Coordinate packaging validation activities and collect packaging qualification documents with project teams
• Drive packaging trials when required as per the validation plan and provide inputs for manufacturing/packaging cost and Capex plans.
• Network with the Packaging Engineering team, Process Engineering, Procurement, Safety, Quality, and Supply chain teams
• Support regional teams for the evaluation and selection of packaging vendors and periodically conduct vendor reviews
• Lead packaging projects for the region/division and implement packaging processes, best practices, and guidelines as agreed with the Global Packaging Team.
Safety and Quality Management
• Address and report regulatory exposures (Dangerous Goods, Food Contact Materials,…) and ensure all packaging material meets safety and quality standards in consideration of legal and country requirements
• Provide support to Operation and Quality teams on issues related to packaging materials, and packaging equipment to determine best-fit resolutions and dedicated customer issue management for packaging.
• Solve Packaging and labeling issues
• Ensure data quality of packaging material in the system as well as the accuracy of documents stored in the global packaging repository.
Continuous improvement
• Inspire and support the business in developing innovative packaging solutions for new product categories (e.g. integrated solutions)
• Support the implementation of alternative packaging options and new materials in line with our strategy on Plastic Circularity to meet our 2030 targets on single us plastics.
• Set a customer-first approach to Packaging development
• Identify regional packaging optimization projects
Your profile includes:
• Master or Post Graduate in packaging technology from a university or institute of repute or relevant experience in packaging engineering and processes
• More than 10 years of Operational / R&D experience in a packaging position
• Experience in Packaging in a B2B industry - food ingredients, FMCG, Chemicals or related industry
• International Exposure
• Expertise in Safety & Food Safety regulation
• Exposure to Dangerous Goods transportation norms
• Experienced working and communicating in a matrix organization
• Experience in building effective teams
• Ability to manage conflicts and provide solutions
• Ability to influence decisions through great communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in CI project and knowledge of SAP system are an advantage
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are an advantage
