Immigration Paralegal or legal assistant – Full-time – Anchorage, AK

We are a well established Anchorage immigration and probate firm in need of a diligent and self-motivated paralegal or legal assistant. A dedicated, reliable person who feels comfortable being partly self-guided in their work is the perfect fit. We do ask for competence and comfort with Microsoft Word and Outlook. Experience with Excel, and Adobe is a plus but not required. Individual must be bilingual (Spanish is highly preferred, but we are open to other languages). We are willing to train most other skills for the right person. The paralegal will help to meticulously maintain up-to-date files on individual matters, draft pleadings with attorney supervision, draft letters, and emails, interact with the court, interact with various government agencies, file motions and pleadings, prepare immigration forms with attorney supervision, ensure record keeping compliance, and ensure client success. Initial duties include answering telephones as needed, completion of form letters/pleadings, drafting simple correspondence, completing random tasks that come up in the day to day of a bustling law office. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, and a sense of pride and importance concerning your work product. You also should enjoy working in a small office where we all get to know and care for each other. Must pass background check, as honesty, responsibility, and motivation are critically important. Must be proficient at typing and possess excellent grammar/writing skills. An eye for detail is also highly valued. Qualifications

Experience:

· Two years experience as a paralegal or legal assistant.

· One year (or more) of experience working in an office of any type (Preferred).

· One year (or more) as a legal assistant or other related role is a plus (Preferred).

Education:

· Associate degree or related experience in the field as a paralegal or legal assistant

· Bachelor's degree (Preferred)

SKILLS:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Self-motivated and self-guided;
Ability to problem solve and find solutions to complex problems;
Proficient knowledge of computer programs (i.e. Outlook, Adobe, Excel, and Word); and
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Job Duties

Hours of Operation: Monday -- Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (however for the right candidate we can be flexible with your schedule and your outside needs and obligations).
