Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Payment Processing Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payment cycle, ensuring accuracy and compliance across various financial transactions. Your expertise will help streamline our revenue cycle management, support accounts receivable and payable processes, and uphold the highest standards of financial integrity. Responsibilities
Process incoming payments, including electronic transfers, checks, and credit card transactions, accurately recording each in our financial software systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions daily to ensure consistency with bank statements and internal records.
Perform detailed account analysis and journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger balances in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Manage medical billing and collection processes, including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology, to optimize revenue cycle management.
Conduct data entry with high accuracy using 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping techniques while adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on governmental or non-profit accounting projects, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
Support audit preparations by maintaining meticulous documentation of financial transactions and performing account reconciliation tasks.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing vendor inquiries related to accounts payable or receivable with professionalism and clear communication.
Assist in analyzing financial data using analysis skills to identify discrepancies or areas for process improvement.
Utilize technical accounting knowledge for complex transaction processing involving revenue recognition, debits & credits, and journal entries.
Skills
Strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements and internal controls in financial processes.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental or non-profit accounting practices.
Experience with medical billing, collection procedures, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology.
Excellent analysis skills for account reconciliation, account analysis, and financial data interpretation.
Skilled in data entry with high accuracy using 10 key typing techniques and double-entry bookkeeping methods.
Effective negotiation skills for collections or vendor interactions coupled with strong phone etiquette.
Familiarity with revenue cycle management concepts within healthcare or financial services sectors.
Ability to perform complex journal entries while maintaining compliance with technical accounting standards.
Competence in handling accounts receivable/payable processes efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.
