Salary: $97,955 - $111,142 per annum (plus superannuation)

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Economic Policy Projects, the Policy and Projects Officer contributes to key strategic projects aimed at improving the productivity and competitiveness of Victoria's regions. The role supports the growth of local industries, job creation, and regional communities by providing high-quality, evidence-based policy advice.

The position works across a range of economic and policy initiatives, including economic analysis, data analytics, modelling and research. The successful candidate will be comfortable working on emerging and complex policy issues where information may be uncertain, and will work flexibly across the branch depending on workload and project priorities.

Main accountabilities:

Contribute to policy formulation through analysis and interpretation of economic data and evidence
Draft reports, briefs and recommendations on complex issues impacting programs or organisational outcomes
Contribute expertise to project teams working on complex and cross-cutting initiatives
Develop and implement communication and consultation strategies to support project delivery
The Team

The Policy and Projects Officer is part of the Economic Policy Projects team within the Place Based Strategy, Insights and Coordination Branch, Regional Development Victoria.

The branch leads place-based policy and insights across DJSIR and the Victorian Public Service. It delivers the evidence base and policy platform to influence regional economic outcomes and supports coordinated, high-quality advice and program delivery across government.

About You

You have demonstrated capability in policy design and development, including determining appropriate data and evidence-gathering approaches and undertaking critical analysis to inform policy options. You also bring experience in project delivery, including defining tasks, coordinating work activities, monitoring progress and responding to changing priorities to achieve agreed outcomes.

You communicate clearly and effectively, work collaboratively with stakeholders, and apply systems thinking to understand the broader impacts of policy and program decisions.

A relevant tertiary qualification will be well regarded.
