About the role

Looking to make a difference with Youth and support our young people entering custody?

The Metropolitan Youth Bail Service is a specialised and unique business unit within the Youth Justice Directorate focusing on prevention and diversion and advocacy within the Children’s Court; with a primary role to reduce young people entering custody, monitoring, and facilitating bail placements.

The role involves working in a diverse range of environments including:

The office environment: undertaking case management, assessments for suitability for bail and supporting young people and their families during situational crisis
In the Community: Undertaking home visits, assessing suitability of accommodation options for young people, and working with families
Banksia Hill Detention Centre: Supporting young people in custody and facilitating release on bail
Children’s Court: Representing the business unit in all Bail matters and advocating for young people and positive outcomes in court
The Metropolitan Youth Bail Service operates Monday to Sunday, and public holidays to service the Children’s Court.

The position includes shift-work, and the incumbent will be required to work on weekends and public holidays.

Eligibility

Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
