Western Australian Department of Education has entered into an agreement with the Australian Government Department of Education, to develop and deliver the Scaling Up Success in Remote Schools Program. Through the Scaling up Success program, the Regional Learning Initiative will work to expand the Kimberley Schools Project to selected schools in the Goldfields, Midwest and Pilbara Education Regions. This position is for the Pilbara Education region.

The project has 2 key components:

Targeted teaching – evidence-based teaching strategies, quality materials and frequent measurement of achievement.
Student and community engagement – development with the community of extended learning programs and related initiatives. Support includes coaching and advice for school leaders and teachers around building and sustaining positive school-community partnerships.
The Role

The Principal Advisor, Pilbara Region provides strategic educational leadership across schools and regional networks by guiding the design, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed strategies that enhance student achievement. The role plays a critical part in strengthening leadership capability, facilitating high-quality performance feedback, and ensuring school leaders have access to targeted development and support that drive continuous improvement. A key responsibility is to lead the implementation of system priorities and strategies related to quality teaching.

In this position, you will assess the effectiveness of regional programs and services, identify emerging needs and trends, and develop targeted improvement strategies that promote excellence in teaching and learning. You will collect, analyse and interpret high-quality data and contextual information to inform a responsive, evidence-based approach to lifting student outcomes and supporting schools to meet their improvement goals.

The role requires strong collaboration with Program Coordinators, who provide instructional coaching and model exemplary teaching practice to the Pilbara region, and with the Engagement Officer, who delivers strategic advice to schools on building effective school–community partnerships. Together, these roles contribute to a cohesive regional approach that strengthens capability, fosters positive engagement, and supports improved outcomes for students and their communities.
