Accounting Principles
As an Accounts Payable Trainee, you will be responsible for applying accounting principles to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records. You will calculate and post business transactions, process invoices, and verify financial data to maintain accurate accounts payable records.
Responsibilities:
• Apply accounting principles to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Calculate and post business transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Process invoices and verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
• Provide other clerical support necessary to pay the organization's obligations.
• Review invoices and requisitions for satisfactory payment approval.
• Verify and calculate all extensions and totals on invoices, calculating and taking discounts when applicable.
• Check vendor files for any previous payments and assign voucher numbers.
• Prepare vouchers listing invoice number, date, vendor address, item description, amount, and coding per accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify and implement AP improvements.
Requirements
To be successful as an Accounts Payable Trainee, you should have:
• A B Com Graduate degree.
• Significant experience in the accounts payable process.
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach.
• Strong SME knowledge of accounting concepts.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
• ERP knowledge like SAP or PeopleSoft is an added advantage.
