Job Title: Product Development Lead (PDL)
Reports To: CEO
Direct Reports: Garment Tech Team (7 x Garment Technologists USA & UK)
Peers: Head of Supply, Head of Operations
Role Overview
The Product Development Lead (PDL) ensures that the garment tech team operates at peak productivity, delivering accurate samples and disciplined revisions within the product development process. This role is responsible for tracking output, enforcing technical standards, and maintaining development cadence, while providing a clear framework for accountability and quality across all tech outputs. The PDL does not engage in commercial, pricing, or creative decisions.
Core Mandate
Ensure garment techs are productive, samples are accurate, and revisions are disciplined.
Key Responsibilities / Ownership Areas
1. Garment Tech Productivity
Allocate workload and prioritize tasks across the team.
Balance capacity and remove bottlenecks to maintain smooth development flow.
Track output and enforce accountability for deadlines and deliverables.
2. Sample Accuracy & Technical Quality
Ensure fit accuracy to agreed standards.
Maintain consistency in garment construction and measurement.
Reduce avoidable rework and errors to maintain efficiency.
3. Revision Governance
Decide whether a revision is necessary or would be wasteful.
Enforce revision limits to prevent over-processing.
Freeze development when marginal gains are no longer justified.
4. Development Cadence
Manage the internal critical path for the tech team within product development.
Chase actions, close loops, and ensure clean handoffs of specs, comments, and approvals.
Maintain visibility of the team’s progress against deadlines and product milestones.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in garment technology or product development leadership.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and workflow management skills.
Demonstrated ability to enforce technical standards and quality across multiple outputs.
Ability to balance capacity, track output, and remove bottlenecks effectively.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage cross-functional handoffs.
Highly disciplined and process focused.
Results-driven with strong accountability mindset.
Ability to make decisive calls on revisions and workflow priorities
Strategic thinker within product development, able to see the broader picture while managing day-to-day execution.
Salary: $120,000-$130,000
