This Program Content Creator position is responsible for the public engagement, content development and promotion of the Reuse Centre and Waste Services activities/initiatives. Key responsibilities include creating promotional content, utilizing social media, and establishing and maintaining the brand and visual identity for Waste Services and its related programs.
What will you do?
Develop, produce, and edit high-impact social media content specifically designed to engage younger demographics and broader community groups
Monitor online conversations to identify creative opportunities for engagement while maintaining a positive digital reputation for the City
Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to turn technical waste management data into accessible, "shareable" digital stories
Create audio-visual resources, including custom graphics, photo editing, and video production, to support Waste Services initiatives
Design physical props and materials for programming and facility exhibitions
Analyze social media metrics to identify trends and patterns, reporting these insights to leadership to improve future outreach strategies
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to encourage participation in waste reduction initiatives

Qualifications:
Completion of a diploma or certificate in web applications, web design, web writing, or a related program from a recognized community college or technical institution
A minimum of one (1) year of proven experience in web writing and web development
Asset:
Some knowledge of City of Edmonton's Waste Management programs and services
Skills required for success:
Ability to craft informative content that simplifies complex ideas for audiences of all ages and backgrounds
Proficiency in navigating various social media platforms and experimenting with new digital features and trends
Skill in employing innovative techniques to overcome technological obstacles and produce high-quality materials under tight timelines
Ability to work collaboratively with internal collaborators and external community partners to achieve shared goals
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment:
Note, this position involves travel to various locations that are not all accessible via public transit
Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
