Swimming and Water Safety are seeking to establish a pool of Program Coordinators for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise from May 2026 and up to the end of April 2028. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Swimming and Water Safety is responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of the Interm Swimming and VacSwim programs which provide vital swimming and water safety education to children aged 5 – 17. These programs play a crucial role in helping young people stay safer in and around the water by building essential skills and confidence.

The Role

You don’t need to be an expert in teaching swimming but you will play a key part in coordinating the people and resources required to make sure these programs are successful.

This role is perfect for people who enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team, organising and coordinating teams of people and ensuring the smooth operation of programs.

What’s important in this role is your ability to oversee the development, management and evaluation of the programs, and to be able to work effectively within the Program Coordinator team. It’s all about delivering great swimming and water safety programs for the benefit of children.

This includes:

managing human resources (ensuring the right instructors are in place to deliver quality programs)
engaging with various stakeholders including families, instructors, venue operators and school staff to ensure program success.
using MS Office systems and program data bases to keep all aspects of program coordination organised, accurate and delivered on time. Strong attention to detail is crucial to ensure information is correct and processes run smoothly.
evaluating the programs and working to continuously improve their effectiveness and the experience for families, schools, students and venues.

Experience in working within teams, managing or coordinating programs and teams of people.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Confidence using Microsoft Office and working with databases, supported by a a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Flexibility and adaptability, with the capacity to adjust to changing priorities and program needs.
The ability to manage complex interpersonal situations with professionalism and empathy.
A passion for helping others and improving programs, with a commitment to supporting safer communities.
