What is the role?

Do you have a background or interest in project/program management, and want to develop your skills in an exciting new subject matter? The AFP Cybercrime Uplift Program Team is seeking a Program Officer to support its uplift initiatives.

Cybercrime has been identified as one of the AFP and Australian Government’s priority crime threats. AFP Cyber plays a key role in national efforts against cybercrime with a focus on:

High-end Commonwealth cybercrime investigations;
National coordination of the law enforcement response to cyber threats;
Offshore disruption;
Prevention and support; and
Growing people and capabilities.

AFP Cyber has primary responsibility for the investigation of cybercrimes against the Commonwealth Government, critical infrastructure and systems of national significance or those that impact on the whole of Australian economy. We focus on several cybercrime types, including ransomware, remote access trojans, and data breaches of high-volume or national significance.

The Program Team is responsible for the design, monitoring, management and evaluation of projects, programs and initiatives to uplift capability to counter cybercrime. These include programs under Australia's Cyber Security Strategy 2020, the 2026-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy, as well as projects under the National Cybercrime Capability Fund.

Delivery is achieved through establishing, leading and coordinating programs of work under the AFP governance framework, delivering project outcomes through a small team.

What will you do?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Program Officer (AFP Band 5).

Your primary responsibility as a Program Officer will be to plan, organise, and manage work under multiple programs. This includes:

Contributing to a program plan that outlines the goals, objectives, and timeline for the program.
Ensuring that the projects are aligned with the overall goals and objectives of the program.
Coordinating the work of teams involved in the projects.
Monitoring and reporting on the progress of the program and projects.
Managing the budget and finances of the program, including monitoring expenses and ensuring that the program stays within budget.
Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Qualifications or experience and knowledge in project/program management, or a related field.
Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

Relevant qualifications or extensive experience and knowledge in project/program management.
A strong understanding of financial processes within AFP or a similar government agency.
Experience working in or with a public service agency.
Experience using StrategyDotZero or similar program management software to manage a program or projects.
Additional Information
The role is located in Canberra and successful applicants must be in the ACT region or willing to relocate to Canberra.
