Job description
Our client, a private real estate investment firm, is seeking a skilled Project Accountant to join their team in Boston. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of construction projects, handling all related accounting, reporting, and analysis tasks. The successful candidate will report to the Controller and collaborate with both external and internal clients.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage project accounting, budgeting, and job costing.
• Prepare financial statements and conduct complex reconciliations.
• Coordinate month and year-end close activities.
• Perform cash flow projections and lease abstractions.
• Analyze property taxes and provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 3 years of progressive experience in real estate accounting, either in public accounting or private industry with commercial assets.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with real estate accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, Timberline, or Skyline.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general business practices.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate software is a plus.

Skills and Experience:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in cost accounting/construction project environment.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
