Role: Project Controls Scheduler
Rate: 43/hr W2
Location: Onsite in Houston, TX (77056)
Contract Duration: 12+ Months
Job Summary
The primary mission of the Project Controls organization is to support the execution of projects by ensuring project managers, project teams, and other key stakeholders are provided with detailed project analysis, information, systems, and processes needed to effectively manage project forecasts, schedules, and other essential project information. This role supports the execution of projects to ensure they are delivered safely on time, and on budget.
Job Description
• Lead baseline schedule creation and approval efforts in collaboration with the project team
• Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules for assigned major and tactical capital projects in collaboration with project team members and contractors
• Maintain project schedules including progress updates, forecast revisions, and evaluation of delay impacts
• Communicate schedule status and key risk areas to members of the project management team
• Maintain a thorough understanding of WBS and corresponding project estimates to support schedule planning efforts
• Apply advanced knowledge of planning phases including permitting, land, survey, and construction for pipeline and facility projects
• Determine and manage critical paths to meet project completion dates and develop mitigation or workaround strategies
• Work with contractors to ensure schedule compliance with project controls requirements
• Perform detailed reviews of contractor schedule submittals, including baselines and progress updates
• Build and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6 using approved templates and WBS structures
• Update schedules at least monthly and weekly during construction phases as required
• Baseline schedules at each project gate and manage primary and secondary baselines in P6
• Produce and publish updated project schedules and standard reports, including:
• Critical Path Schedules
• 2–4 Week Lookahead Reports
• Milestone Reports
• Schedule Variance Reports
Basic / Required
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must Haves
• Specialized depth and/or breadth of scheduling expertise
• Strong ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices
• Experience solving complex problems and developing innovative scheduling solutions
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail and accountability
• Ability to manage complexity, stakeholder expectations, and competing priorities
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and reporting
• Demonstrated ability to support project execution to meet safety, schedule, and budget objectives
