Ventia are a leading employer that focus on training and development. This is a genuine opportunity for a Protection technician to advance their skill set within the industry.
The incumbent will be based in either the Auckland or Hamilton depot and will be working across the Auckland and Waikato regions. This is a full-time, permanent role at minimum 40 hours a week, 7am – 3.30pm with an hourly rate of 42-63/hr commiserate to protection experience.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting high voltage substation works with a strong focus around safety and technical ability. You will be positive, with a strong work ethic and desire to work collectively as a team to complete works efficiently.
Other key deliverables are as follows:
Testing, commissioning and maintenance of substation protection systems.
Understand protection scheme philosophy
Know how to work with omicron or equivalent test equipment for testing protection schemes
Compiling test reports and completing as build’s for all project works
Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to effectively commission protection schemes
Support the team in regard to compliance, SHEQ and technical knowledge.

ABOUT YOU
Minimum 3 years industry experience in power assets
Hold registration (full, provisional, or limited) from the Electrical Workers Registration Board’ (EWRB) as an Electrician or Electrical Engineer, preferably holding a current practising licence.
Practical industry related experience is essential.
Experience with HV, substation, or power transmission is desirable.
Strong communication skills
Good computer literacy skills
Valid drivers licence
