The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is calling for dedicated individuals to embrace the role of OO4 Ranger, a challenging and impactful position centred on the preservation and management of our natural sanctuaries. Positioned within the captivating landscapes of Wooroonooran, Eubenangee Swamp, Russell River, and Ella Bay National Parks, your role involves critical tasks that bolster the health and accessibility of these protected areas.
As an OO4 Ranger, you will partake in a comprehensive work program encompassing various operational and special projects under the guidance of the Ranger in Charge. Your responsibilities will stretch across supervising teams in natural resource management, ensuring facilities are well-maintained, enhancing visitor infrastructure, and overseeing strategic pest management initiatives. Engaging with the public, managing infrastructure, and contributing to fire management efforts are also key aspects, all while supporting conservation.
Applicants who exhibit proficiency in basic construction, use of hand tools, chainsaws, and operational machinery will find themselves well-suited to this role. A medium rigid driver licence is desirable, and comfort with agricultural chemicals is paramount as you tackle invasive species. Professionalism and interpersonal skills are necessary, given frequent interactions with the public at the popular Josephine Falls and Graham range.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are the cornerstones of our work culture, therefore, a dedication to these principles and a drive to deliver better outcomes for First Nations people are inherent to the role. Notably, travel is part of the job, with based operations in Innisfail and occasional needs for travel to other locations.
