Recruitment Advisor, Clerk Grade 7/8, Wollongong

Join a volunteer-based Emergency Service agency supporting communities of NSW and our volunteers to respond to emergencies
14 hour p/week job share arrangement, working Tuesdays and Fridays up to March 2026 with a possibility of extension

About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join the Recruitment and Workforce Strategy Team to support recruitment and HR functions at the NSW SES. This is a part time role, working 14 hours per week (Tuesday and Fridays), job sharing with another Recruitment Advisor who is currently working part time up to end of March 2026. This role is performed out of our NSW SES State Headquarters in Wollongong, and there is some flexibility with hybrid working arrangements.

The Recruitment Advisor manages a portfolio of Directorates, including Zone based roles that are geographically dispersed across NSW. The role provides advice and support to hiring managers and other key stakeholders in relation to recruitment, workforce planning and HR reporting. A key part of this role is engaging with, and supporting, managers and Senior Executives on recruitment and workforce strategies, designing job advertisements and assessments and writing and evaluating Role Descriptions to support effective job design and organisational structure. The role will also manage a Recruitment Support Officer, providing guidance and learning in their everyday tasks to support them in delivering first class recruitment support.

Being able to interpret legislation and frameworks is critical to the success in this role as it provides compliant advice in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act/Rules and Regulations and the application of the PSC’s Capability Framework. Experience in these legislations and guidelines is beneficial, however not essential as this can be learnt on the job. We are looking for professional recruiters who have strong experience in running recruitment actions and being able to creatively market NSW SES roles across a broad range of platforms to achieve positive recruitment outcomes and hires.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

provide expert advice to hiring managers on recruitment to support the effective filling of vacancies (including external advertising, activation of talent/eligibility pools, promotional opportunities etc)
have experience in developing creative strategies/plans to promote vacancies and job advertisements to seek a broader pool of skilled candidates
support hiring managers in the design of assessments and interview questions in line with capabilities and essential requirements of a role
effectively manage recruitments that support a positive candidate and hiring manager experience
be proactive in workforce planning to plan and prepare for vacancies across the agency
work in a high volume and fast paced recruitment team
build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external
be a quick learner who is able to work flexibly across a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities.

Please outline your experience in providing recruitment advice to hiring managers on strategies relating to advertising and promoting vacancies and conducting effective assessments to achieve a positive recruitment outcome.

In your response, please provide an example of a situation that achieved a positive outcome due to your effective stakeholder engagement.
