About Kelso Industries

Kelso Industries is a private equity-backed platform building the nation's preferred MEP+ solutions partner. Through our growing network of operating companies, we deliver mechanical, electrical, and plumbing solutions across commercial and industrial markets.

In just a few short years, Kelso has scaled rapidly — and we're continuing to build the infrastructure, teams, and leadership needed to support that growth. Our approach is simple: empower strong local businesses, support them with the right resources, and build a culture that attracts and retains great people.
Position Summary (Impact & Opportunity)

This is not a sit-behind-the-desk HR role.

This is a field-facing, business-embedded HR Generalist who will support multiple operating companies across the Phoenix market. You'll work directly with leaders and employees, helping navigate real-time challenges, improve processes, and ensure HR is a true partner to the business — not just a function.

You'll have visibility, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape how HR scales across a fast-growing, multi-entity environment. From employee relations and compliance to onboarding and engagement, your impact will be felt across the entire employee lifecycle.

If you thrive in a hands-on, multi-site environment and want to be part of building something — not just maintaining it — this role offers that opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
• Act as a trusted HR partner to employees and leaders across multiple OpCos, providing day-to-day support on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns
• Support leaders with coaching, documentation, and conflict resolution, ensuring consistency and alignment with company policies and best practices
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee matters
• Own and execute onboarding processes, including pre-employment coordination, new hire documentation, and orientation to ensure a strong start for new employees
• Support employee engagement initiatives and appreciation efforts to reinforce a positive and connected culture
• Coordinate and manage offboarding processes, including exit documentation, system access removal, and exit interviews, providing insights to improve retention
• Assist employees with benefits-related questions, enrollment changes, and 401(k) inquiries
• Administer and track FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and return-to-work programs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
• Maintain accurate HRIS data, personnel files, and reporting to support compliance and operational efficiency
• Deliver HR-related training for supervisors and support development initiatives across the workforce
• Track and report on key HR metrics (turnover, onboarding, compliance, engagement) to support data-driven decision-making
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, while supporting audits, policy updates, and reporting requirements
• Partner with operations and safety leadership to support OSHA-related processes, incident tracking, and workers' compensation efforts, reinforcing a strong safety culture
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a multi-site, field-based, or decentralized environment
• Experience supporting employee relations, HR operations, and compliance in a fast-paced setting
• Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.)
• Ability to build relationships and influence leaders at multiple levels of the organization
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Comfortable operating with a high level of autonomy while balancing multiple priorities
• Experience in construction, trades, or field-service environments preferred
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred (not required)
Work Environment
• Field-based role supporting multiple locations across the Phoenix area
• Combination of office and job site visits
• Ability to travel locally between OpCos as needed
