Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
The Melbourne Magistrates' Court is seeking an experienced and proactive RCC Coordinating Registrar to lead case flow management for the Remote Custody Court (RCC)-a critical component of the Court's operations.
Reporting within the MCV Coordination team, this senior role works closely with the RCC Program Registrar, Manager of Listings and Supervising Magistrate, while also leading a small team of Registrars. You will operate in a complex, high-pressure environment, exercising sound judgement and ensuring strict compliance with legislative and procedural requirements.
You will:
Coordinate daily RCC listings and case workloads to ensure effective, timely court operations
Develop and implement policies, practices and resource strategies that improve service delivery
Analyse performance data and prepare high-quality briefings and reports for senior leaders
Provide expert legal, administrative and quasi-judicial support as a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court
Lead, mentor and develop registry staff, fostering capability, accountability and engagement
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the Court as required
About You
To be eligible for this role, you must have completed the Victorian Magistrates' Court Trainee Program or hold a Certificate IV in Court Operations, and be a qualified and experienced Registrar of the Victorian Magistrates' Court.
You will:
Demonstrate strong technical expertise and a sound understanding of the role, responsibilities and legislative obligations of a Magistrates' Court Registrar.
Also have proven leadership experience, including managing staff, supporting professional development, and overseeing performance management processes.
Have the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide authoritative advice on court practices and protocols.
