About the Nephrology Department
">
The Department of Nephrology at Austin Health strives to improve the lives of people with kidney disease and advance knowledge in kidney health. The department provides care for people with kidney disease across the spectrum of nephrology, including CKD, haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, pre- and post-renal transplantation, acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, and genetic diseases. Treatment of all forms of renal disease and hypertension is also supported, with interests including autoimmune diseases.

About the Role
">
This is a senior medical position requiring clinical leadership, teaching and training as well as administrative responsibilities. Consultant Nephrologists are expected to provide high-level nephrology service within their approved scope of clinical practice as part of the Nephrology team at Austin Health.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialist nephrology management of outpatients and/or in-patients.
">
Participate in unit meetings and activities.
">
Provide an on-call service as required.
">
Supervise trainees and junior medical staff.
">
Assist the Medical Director, Nephrology in administrative duties as required.
">
Contribute to the supervision, education and training of junior medical, nursing and other clinical staff.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

A commitment to Austin Health values.

Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
">
Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Physicians or equivalent.
">
Appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Nephrology.
">
Demonstrated commitment to high-quality patient care.
">
Demonstrated commitment and ongoing activity in research and/or clinical audit activities.
">
Involvement in teaching and training of medical, technical and nursing staff.
">
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
">
Understanding of, and commitment to Clinical Governance.
