About the Group - Corporate Centre

The Corporate Centre Group delivers a wide range of corporate services to enable people at HM Treasury and many of the other organisations who form part of the Treasury Group (including the Government Internal Audit Agency and the Debt Management Office) to operate effectively and efficiently. We are a diverse group, both in terms of our professions and in our ways of working. Our colleagues are based across 3 sites in London, Darlington and Norwich.

About the Team

The role sits within the Recruitment Team, who deliver an efficient and customer focused recruitment service to the Treasury and our wider customers. They provide expert support and guidance across all stages of the recruitment campaign, from initial recruitment briefing to managing job offers and contracts to successful applicants, playing a vital role in ensuring that the Treasury has the staff it needs to fulfil its aims. The team ensures that all recruitment is compliant with the Civil Service Recruitment Principles and HM Treasury recruitment policy by being fair, open and based on merit.

The team have an excellent reputation for their outstanding levels of service, supporting each other through regular contact and knowledge sharing and are actively encouraged to gain broad experience to develop their skills.

About the Job

The role will be primarily focused on supporting the day-to-day running of the recruitment service, acting as a first point of contact for queries, processing new and in-flight campaigns and providing advice to the business around best practice and policy. In doing so, the role will take responsibility for;

Managing and resolving queries from external candidates, applicants and hiring managers, escalating complex queries when needed
Drafting contracts of employment using templates for HM Treasury Group and distributing in a timely manner
Conducting eligibility-based sifting for HM Treasury Group campaigns
Providing advice regarding recruitment best practice and policy, relying on written policies and guides
Arranging sift paperwork and offers for recruitment campaigns, engaging with colleagues within the business to coordinate.
Maintaining accurate data across the recruitment service for reporting, both within the online recruitment system and SharePoint system
Building effective working relationships with colleagues, both within the team and wider department
Supporting early talent programmes, including administrative work related to placing new and rotating graduate and apprentice staff into roles and supporting the running of large-scale recruitment campaigns
Raising purchase orders for the payment of invoices in the branch and supporting with other administrative work as required such as scheduling meetings and booking rooms.
This role is available on a fixed term appointment basis for up to 12 months.

Eligibility Statement

A candidate is not eligible to apply for a role in the Civil Service if the application is made within a 5 year period following a dismissal for carrying out internal fraud against government. Everyone working with government assets must complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks. Additionally, individuals appointed to the Treasury group will be subject to National Security Vetting. The level of security vetting required for this role is Security Check (SC).

To allow for meaningful checks to be carried out, applicants will need to have lived in the UK for at least 3 out of the past 5 years. In exceptional circumstances, for example if you have been working abroad on a government posting, a lack of residency would not be a bar to security clearance however the Department will need to consider eligibility on a case-by-case basis once the advert closing date has passed.
