Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a Risk Manager to provide advisory and delivery support for major infrastructure and development programs across New Zealand. This role involves working as a consultant within client teams, helping to establish and manage risk frameworks, facilitate workshops, and deliver quantitative and qualitative risk analysis. You will play a key role in enabling confident decision-making and ensuring predictable outcomes for complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain risk frameworks aligned to ISO 31000 and client governance requirements
Facilitate risk identification and assessment workshops across technical, commercial, regulatory, and delivery areas
Develop and maintain risk registers and ensure integration with schedule and cost controls
Lead cost and schedule risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation tools such as Safran Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis, or @Risk
Prepare risk reporting for Steering Committees and Programme Boards, including trend analysis and treatment effectiveness
Support procurement strategies by advising on risk allocation and contributing to contract risk schedules
Assess regulatory and consenting risks and integrate them into program risk profiles
Engage with stakeholders and facilitate workshops with multi-disciplinary teams and external partners
Provide clear and concise risk insights to senior leaders and governance groups
Here is an example of a day in the life of this role:

Lead monthly risk reviews and workshops
Update risk registers and treatment plans
Run quantitative risk analysis updates and produce P50/P90 reporting
Prepare governance dashboards and present key risk insights
Support procurement and contract development with risk allocation advice
Collaborate with PMO, planning, commercial, and delivery teams to embed risk management

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Experience

5–10 years in risk management roles within major infrastructure projects or related consulting environments
Proven experience delivering quantitative risk analysis for large programs or portfolios
Familiarity with New Zealand delivery environments including alliances, PPPs, and public-sector governance
Technical Skills

Proficiency in risk tools such as Safran Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis, or @Risk
Understanding of planning tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project and how risk interacts with cost and schedule baselines
Knowledge of construction delivery risks including design development, procurement, market capacity, and consenting
Qualifications

Degree in engineering, project management, construction management, finance, or a related field
Professional certifications such as IRM, PMI-RMP, or APM Risk are advantageous
