The Opportunity

Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is hiring one (1) Administrative Assistant in Slave Lake. This is a summer term position with an end date of August 31, 2026. Reporting to the Manager, Northwest, the successful candidate will provide general clerical support and administrative duties to the METI-Services Team in the Slave Lake office. The successful candidate will be an eager, self-motivated individual looking to gain valuable work experience. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities:

Welcome and direct clients and visitors, ensuring a positive client experience, and accurately record statistics of all client visits.
Provide potential clients with information about RLI services.
Provide assistance to clients in accessing job and career information online and provide information regarding the resource center’s career and employment services.
Provide general administrative support, including but not limited to shredding documents, updating job boards, electronic and paper filing, photocopying, document assembly, tidying resource and file rooms, and assisting with general office procedures.
Maintain and organize client self-service resources and materials, as needed by clients.
Assist the Advisors in reviewing files for completeness and accuracy, archiving hard files, and conducting follow-up calls to clients.
Data entry in KETO database.
Attend local career fairs and events in the community, as needed.
Other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field.
1 – 2 years of administrative experience is an asset. School or volunteer experience is considered valid experience.
Customer service experience is an asset.
Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with others.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as the ability to work with a team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when working with clients.
Proficient with Microsoft Suite applications and online platforms, including online/digital meeting applications.
Other Requirements:

Due to funding requirements, this position is open to Métis students only. This would include Citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
Due to funding requirements, candidates must be between the ages of 17 – 2+.
Due to funding requirements, candidates must be currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary education and must be returning to school full time in September 2026.
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events. This may include some travel.
