About the role:
Reporting to the Group Manager – Safety and Assurance, the Safety and Assurance Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the implementation of SeaLink’s Safety and Assurance framework by coordinating key activities, driving initiatives, and fostering engagement across the business.
We’re looking for a motivated and people-focused Safety and Assurance Coordinator to join our team supporting Health, Safety, Environment, Risk, and Sustainability across SeaLink. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of embedding safe practices, supporting risk management, and driving continuous improvement. You’ll facilitate workshops, help deliver training, and craft clear, engaging safety communications.
You’ll support everything from inductions and audits to incident reporting and compliance—ensuring our initiatives are not just implemented, but understood and owned by those doing the work. This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting organisational change, an interest in high-risk and maritime environments, and a people-centred approach to improvement.
Key accountabilities include:
Work with our teams to identify, monitor, and measure critical controls to strengthen risk management across all our operations.
Schedule and conduct audits and reviews that drive accountability, uncover insights, and support continuous improvement.
Support the identification of training needs and contribute to the development of inductions and learning initiatives that build the skills, knowledge, and confidence our people need to work safely and effectively.
Support the rollout of our policies and procedures in a way that ensures they are understood, accessible, and relevant to our people and their work.
Support the analysis of incident and accident trends to highlight opportunities for targeted improvements.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills, knowledge and qualifications:
Tertiary qualification Level 6 or equivalent, in related degree.
NZ Certificate Health & Safety Level 4, or equivalent
Minimum 4 years in a similar role
3 years Health & Safety Experience (desired)
Logistics, Marine, Tourism operational experience (desired)
In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, and the ability to apply these to ensure compliance across the business
Skills in identifying and assessing risks, managing incident reporting and investigations, and developing corrective actions
Capability to lead projects
