Are you a passionate school teacher looking to expand your career into the field of behaviour analysis and therapeutic intervention? We are seeking a committed and compassionate School Teacher to work as a Behaviour Therapist supporting neurodivergent students and students with additional learning needs to engage meaningfully in academic tasks through the use of evidence-based behavioural strategies.
This role involves working with students outside regular school hours (after school and Saturdays) to implement structured, goal-oriented behaviour support strategies during academic learning. You will receive comprehensive training and supervision from a Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner and Behaviour Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver structured academic sessions aligned with individualised behaviour support strategies.
Implement behaviour change interventions including:
Task analysis to break down complex learning tasks into manageable steps.
Positive reinforcement systems to support motivation and engagement.
Prompting and fading strategies to build student independence.
Teach students to stay on task, follow routines, and complete academic work using clear and consistent behaviour support methods.
Accurately record session data and behavioural observations.
Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions to refine therapeutic and teaching strategies.
Work collaboratively with the Behaviour Support Practitioner to ensure fidelity of the Behaviour Support Plan (BSP).
Provide a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment.
Selection Criteria:Essential:
Qualified teacher with experience working in school settings (primary or secondary).
A genuine interest in supporting students with behavioural and learning challenges.
Availability to work after school hours and Saturdays.
Willingness to receive training in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), and related models.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a willingness to learn new approaches to behaviour and learning.
Desirable:
Must have experience working as a teacher in primary and/or high school, supporting students in academic tasks.
Experience with students with Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, or trauma-informed practice.
Knowledge of behavioural principles or therapeutic approaches to learning.
Working toward or interest in pursuing further training in behaviour support, ABA, or special education.
Support and Training Provided:
Direct coaching from a Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner.
Training in Behaviour Support Plan implementation and ABA strategies.
Ongoing mentorship for those interested in transitioning into the behavioural therapy field long-term.
