Description
Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) is currently seeking a Security Analyst I for the Division of Enterprise and Technology Services. Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, KPPA is responsible for the daily administration of three state administered retirement systems with nearly $25 billion in combined assets. These systems have a membership of approximately 433,000 state and local government employees in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including state employees, state police officers, city and county employees, as well as non-teaching staff of local school boards and regional universities.
This position is in the Information Security Branch and will be an instrumental member of the day-to-day security operations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Investigate and evaluate security incidents. Update incident reports and track progress.
Perform monitoring of system logs and security events and evaluate risk and next steps.
Assist in the development of security operation plan of actions for incident detection and response.
Review current security situation awareness and perform security reviews using security dashboards.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Skills in security analytics concepts with attention to details.
Knowledge of security tools and ability to perform log reviews.
Knowledge of security incident process with abilities to investigate, research and document throughout the process.
Knowledge and ability to evaluate security risks or vulnerabilities with skills in determining severity levels.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree OR a graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in information technology (IT) or related field OR certification in an IT related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Two years of experience in IT security will substitute for the required education.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
