Senior Accountant
We are currently seeking candidates for a Sr. Accountant opportunity with a well-respected financial institution located in Westminster, MA. Sr. Accountant will oversee daily operations of the accounting department, and will ensure accuracy of the organization’s financial records. The Sr. Accountant will report directly to the Controller, and will be responsible for managing general ledger functions, conducting month-end close and year-end close processes, performing reporting, and ensuring GAAP compliance. This is a direct-hire opportunity, paying $+0,0000-$100,000 base (depending on experience) + bonus.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the staff team to ensure accurate posting by GL and cost center, and work with team members to resolve outstanding issues promptly
• Oversee the implementation of cross-training to ensure adequate coverage during absences or vacations.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly corporate bank reconciliations, addressing and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Process daily incoming and outgoing wires.
• Manage the administration of prepaids, fixed assets, and ensure the accuracy of General Ledgers (GLs).
• Support month-end closing processes and prepare monthly reports for various committees, the Board of Directors, and Senior Management.
• Maintain responsibility for tracking and maintaining the investment portfolio, including recording purchases, maturities, premium/discount adjustments, interest accruals, payments, and market values.
• Accurately complete the quarterly FR2+00 and 5300 reports by the specified deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with all BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) regulations.
• Identify errors and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Develop and document business processes to reinforce internal controls.
• Support organizational growth and contribute to achieving its objectives.
• Adhere to guidelines and policies to minimize risk exposure for the organization and its members, applying advanced knowledge to transactions, policy compliance, security, and maintaining the organization’s reputation.
• Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
• 5-10+ years of relevant accounting experience ideally in credit union and/or banking industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related (required)
• Thorough knowledge of and experience with ensuring GAAP compliance
• Strong analytical, organization, and prioritization skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Great communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and self-motivated
