We’re looking for a Senior Accountant / Controller to join our team and support growing businesses and high-net-worth individuals with smart, accurate, and strategic financial guidance.

In this role, you'll take full ownership of the accounting process — from bookkeeping and reconciliations to financial reporting and margin analysis. You'll help clients understand their numbers, make confident business decisions, and stay ahead of what’s next.

DESCRIPTION: The Senior Accountant/Controller provides clients, such as small to mid-size businesses and high net worth individuals, with services that help them analyze financial information so that they can make important business decisions. They take ownership for every accounting aspect and reporting, including bookkeeping, cost analysis and segmentation, financial margin reviews, financial system reviews, and company revenue and expenditures. The senior accountant's responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

Main Responsibilities:

● Manages 20-40 client relationships monthly (varies depending on client complexity)

● Interacts with business owners, providing them high-level insights and advanced analysis on their business's financials and performance

● Demonstrates expertise in accrual basis financial reporting including deferred revenue

● Establishes and maintains financial processes, including implementing and maintaining an appropriate control environment, establishing accounting policies, ownership of core systems, and designing and executing process improvements

● Plans, directs, and manages all accounting operational functions (e.g., payroll, revenue recognition)

● Verifies, allocates, posts and reconciles accounts payable and receivable

● Produces error-free accounting reports and presenting the results

● Interacts with business owners, providing them high-level insights and advanced analysis on their business’s financials and performance

● Demonstrates knowledge of debt and equity/cap table presentation and partnership reporting

● Reconciles tax returns to books and records

● Sets up and manages cloud technology integrations as needed

General Responsibilities:

● Builds, leads, manages, and scales core accounting function, including technical accounting, compliance, tax, and financial reporting

● Assists with scaling of workflows by implementing best-in-practice processes that allow JBS to keep pace with the company’s continued, fast-paced growth

● Owns the financial close process and all associated processes and reporting to deliver accurate and timely results to clients and/or JBS leadership

● Leads the development of accounting policies and the appropriate application of those policies to the company’s business activities as the company grows and/or pivots

● Oversees and implementing financial-related systems with a focus towards improvement of processes, continued automation, and application of new technologies

● Reviews workflow and business operations and makes technology and app recommendations to increase efficiencies

Skills/Qualification for Senior Accounting Consultant

· Holds a BS or MS in accounting or finance

· Minimum 8 years’ experience in accounting

· Knowledge of Xero or QuickBooks Online

· Experience working with Shopify, Bill.com, and payroll platforms (ADP, Paychex, Gusto, etc.) is a plus

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Experience using Google Suite

· Microsoft office proficiency, specifically Microsoft Excel

· Prior managerial experience is a plus

Preferred experience/Certifications

· CPA or Enrolled Agent Preferred

· Experience in preparing/reviewing corporate/partnership returns (1120, 1120S, 1065)

· At least two years’ experience in client relationship management

· Cloud-based accounting experience

· Remote accounting experience

· Public accounting experience

· Payroll and sales/meals/use tax experience

· Spanish as a second language is a plus

Compensation Details

· Salary ranges from $80,000 - $105,000 + performance bonus (based on experience and certifications)
