Job Summary and Qualifications
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing many of the day-to-day activities of the Accounting Department to support those in the hospital who provide patient care. This includes but is not limited to the following: Assisting with general ledger activities; Performing month-end closing activities; Preparing month-end account reconciliations; Assisting with all other daily activities of the Accounting Department and performing special projects as directed by the CFO, Controller and Assistant Controller. The Senior Accountant must also support the facility’s standards of performance as well as HCA’s Mission & Values
II. Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
2. Minimum of two (2) years experience in accounting (preferably in healthcare).
3. Strong understanding of general ledger accounting
4. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
5. Good communication skills, both oral and written
6. Working knowledge of financial systems
7. Self-motivation, willingness to learn and service-oriented attitude
8. Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with all customers
+. Skill in using various analytical tools and techniques
10. Working knowledge of database software helpful
11. Medicare and third party payer knowledge helpful
III. General Essential Functions:
1. Complete month end journal entries and reconciliations.
2. Complete assigned tasks and special projects.
3. Assist with assigned daily activities of the Accounting department.
4. Meet appropriate deadlines.
5. Promote teamwork within the department.
6. Answer questions from other departments, corporate, vendors and anyone else they may come in contact within the course of their duties.
7. Supports the facility’s standards of performance as well as HCA’s Mission & Values
