Job Title: Senior Accountant - Insurance Accounting
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Insurance division. The successful candidate will record journal entries, reconcile complex ledger accounts, and identify opportunities for process improvements. You will be responsible for ensuring that financial records, monthly accounting close activities, and variance analyses are properly prepared, maintained, and explained in a timely manner. This role involves mining, manipulating, and managing large volumes of transactional level data. You will also review work submitted by other accountants, provide functional advice, and offer training. Additionally, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely ad-hoc reporting from multiple data sources, participating in cross-departmental projects, and documenting the impact of new programs or system changes on existing accounting processes. Other duties may be assigned as needed by business management.
Required Skills
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2+ years of experience in public or large private accounting ($1 billion + in revenue)
• Insurance industry experience required
• Proficiency in process improvements & efficiencies
Soft Skills
• Analytical skills
• Ability to resolve issues creatively and effectively
• Effective communication
• Ability to validate and interpret results
