Veriha Trucking is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team, with a desire and potential to grow into a Controller. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting month-end close, and preparing reports to guide decision-making.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day accounting functions, including GL maintenance, journal entries, and reconciliations
Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closes
Manage fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts
Support cash flow analysis and forecasting
Assist with budgeting and variance analysis
Collaborate with operations and other departments to align financial data with business activity
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and internal controls
Support external audits and tax preparation
Mentor other accounting staff as needed

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus)
3 years of progressive accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
Experience with ERP and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management
Strong communication skills and ability to partner across departments
Demonstrated interest or readiness to step into a leadership/Controller-level role in the future
