Description
We are inviting applications for the role of Sr. Accountant based in Muscatine, Iowa, United States. This role plays a crucial part in our distribution sector, providing critical support to our Controller and helping to drive our growth.
Responsibilities
• Ensure accurate account reconciliations are conducted on a regular basis
• Undertake month-end close procedures including the handling of journal entries
• Generate aging reports and inventory reports at the end of each month
• Reconcile total cash applications with system applications at month-end
• Carry out Monthly Bank Reconciliation
• Work on special projects as and when required
• Assist with interim and year-end audits
• Drive continuous process improvement within the accounting function
• Support with daily and weekly reporting
• Track and report on Key Performance Indicators
• File sales tax returns as needed
• Document procedures and file documents as necessary
• Collaborate with IT/ERP support for any technical issues
• Provide necessary assistance to the Controller
• Support business partners under the direction of the Controller.
Skills
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close
Requirements
• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is essential.
• Experience with General Ledger management and Journal Entries is required.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures is necessary.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is a must.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Must have strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and professional ethics.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
• Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing financial reports and statements.
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for high interaction with a variety of departments and staff levels.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the job is located. No sponsorship is available for this role.
• Ability to work extended hours as needed, especially during monthly/annual closing periods.
